Jeet Kune Do has been defined in various ways by martial artists. Generally, this martial art is known to be continuously evolving. Besides, it was already been recognized ever since the time it was created. This art is a fusion of other martial arts from the experience of the creator, Bruce Lee.

JKD means ‘The Way of Intercepting Fist’. This statement makes it clear that this art is focusing its method on intercepting your opponent’s attack by applying a direct counter attack. In the middle of 1960′s, the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee has developed this martial art. Using his lifetime experience of martial art, he was able to master various techniques. He combined these techniques, using the useful techniques and eliminating the useless techniques. Bruce Lee mastered various styles of martial arts including Muay Thai, Choy Li Fut, Jiu-jitsu and more importantly his first martial art, the Wing Chun.

To understand these techniques, you must learn its ways so that you can apply it while comprehending the principles of JKD.

Efficiency means, executing an attack using the maximum force with the minimal amount of time. Directness refers to executing what is flawless and natural, excluding the tricky movements. Simplicity means, doing the simplest action in the easiest manner as possible.

JKD is known to be practical and simple. It only provides what is necessary in a real life situation battle. Bruce Lee believed that some other martial arts are deem useless to use in a brawl and are too flowery. While JKD uses the most practical techniques that are effective to use in the street. This martial art is not considered as a sport to compete with but a self-defense that everyone should learn.
